Offered here is an antique etching of William Mulready’s painting “Choosing the Wedding Gown”. This is a copper plate etching on wove paper, executed by a master engraver (possibly Charles Oliver Murray (Scottish, 1842-1923)), in the 1880s. The painting was used as an illustratration for chapter 1 of Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith. Professionally framed and matted in a gold frame, the image measures approximately 6.5 x 8.5 inches, and framed measures 15 x 17.5 inches.
